El Paso Law Enforcement Training

Citizens for Road Safety Texas invites law enforcement, traffic safety partners, community organizations, and members of the El Paso community to attend an in-person training on the new Texas Crosswalk Law, the Lisa Torry Smith Act.
Through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation, Citizens for Road Safety Texas is providing trainings across the state to support awareness and implementation of this important pedestrian safety law. The training will provide an overview of the Lisa Torry Smith Act, including the legal requirement for drivers to stop and yield to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users lawfully in a crosswalk.
The presentation will also share the background and purpose of the law, explain how it applies in real-world situations, and discuss the role of law enforcement and community partners in improving crosswalk safety and preventing pedestrian injuries and fatalities.
