Fort Bend County Pedestrian Safety Forum

The Fort Bend County Pedestrian Forum, organized by Citizens for Road Safety and the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, will feature a day of discussion with leaders from Fort Bend County and Texas, and the community, at the historic George Ranch, in Richmond, Texas. Participants will share insights about pedestrian safety in their communities, while learning about the Lisa Torry Smith Act—the Texas Crosswalk Law passed in 2021, which makes it a crime to kill or injure a pedestrian or other vulnerable road user in a crosswalk. The Forum will be followed by a concert and a reception featuring local beverages. Lunch will be provided.
Everyone should be safe to live free. We all have the right to take a walk, visit a neighbor, gather with friends, walk to the store, ride a bike, venture out with an assisted mobility device, and enjoy our own neighborhood, our community, fresh air and nature—without the fear of death or injury. The right to be outside safely is the right to live free.
