The family of a 2-year-old boy who was killed while in a crosswalk with his grandma is fighting for justice.
The crash happened Thursday morning on Fuqua in southwest Houston. Two-year-old Emmanuel Moline died at the scene, and his grandmother was critically injured.
The driver has not been charged, though the Lisa Torry Smith Act makes it a felony to seriously injure or kill a pedestrian or other vulnerable road user in a crosswalk, a fact the ABC 13 report highlights, noting “The lack of accountability is something that deeply troubles the Molina family.”
The report also features Gina Torry, founder of Citizens for Road Safety, who said there was enough evidence to arrest and charge the driver, under the law named for her sister.
