ABC13 is reporting:
For a second time in a week a pedestrian has been killed in Fort Bend County. Today a 14 year old boy was killed crossing the street in a crosswalk on his bike. The driver is in custody.
We have received many messages from the Fort Bend Community of outrage and grief. Citizens for Road Safety will be holding a community meeting and will invite the public to share their stories and concerns with Fort Bend County leaders.
Gina Torry, the President of Citizens for Road Safety, told ABC 13: “In Texas, there are now consequences for not respecting the crosswalk law. So, that could be a fine, that could be imprisonment but it could also be that for the rest of your life you have to live with fact that you killed somebody just simply trying to cross the street.”
